Versione Italiana

In a tranquil, countryside setting close to the town of Martina Franca stands Masseria Labbruto, a seventeenth century fortified farmhouse, perfectly restored and in keeping with local character and surrounded by landscaped gardens and private wood within a secure compound. Defined by those who have visited it as an “earthly paradise”, this private complex of self-catering apartments prides itself on careful attention to detail – each mini-apartment is well equipped with modern conveniences: kitchenette, air conditioning, central heating, TV, fridge and washing machine and each benefits from a private courtyard area. Guests are also invited to use the various facilities offered free of charge by the establishment, such as the private swimming-pool, barbecue, wood-burning pizza oven, gardens and bicycles for excursions around the area. Martina Franca, a majestic town of elaborate baroque architecture, is set on a hillside which overlooks the beautiful Valle d’Itria, a fabled part of southern Italy, which houses the charming trulli; conical-roofed traditional stone dwellings which are unique in their design. The old town of nearby Alberobello is entirely composed of these buildings. Close by are also the amazing caves at Castellana, huge underground caverns, which continue to exist because the area does not suffer from earth tremors. Other attractions in the area include Locorotondo, with its beautifully rounded old town and exquisite white wine and Ostuni, the famous ‘white city of the south’, whose startling white-washed façade lights up the hillside. Further down the ‘heel’ of Italy’s ‘boot’ are to be found the imposing castle of Otranto and the baroque city of Lecce. Martina Franca lies almost half-way between the Adriatic to the East and the Ionian to the West, half an hour’s drive in either direction to long sandy beaches. This area of Puglia is famous for its local produce – seafood, olive oil, pasta and the earthy, deep red wines of the Salento. Eating out is a true gastronomic treat and surprisingly economical, though the main meal of the day remains a long lunch followed by a relaxing siesta in the heat of the day. Come and visit for a relaxing taste of southern Italy. Our English-speaking staff are on hand to offer help in any way and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
